As a Senior Product Designer at IG Group, I led the design work for the native integration of TipRanks, a comprehensive research tool, into our trading platform.
Scope
IG has partnered with TipRanks to offer three in-platform market analysis widgets. This integration aimed to provide our users with enhanced market analysis capabilities, leveraging TipRanks’ unique features and extensive database.
Process
1. Research and Discovery
- User Needs Analysis. Conducted user interviews to understand the specific needs and preferences of traders regarding market analysis tools.
- Integration Analysis. With team tech lead identified best practices and areas for differentiation in integrating third-party research tools.
2. Concept Development
- Collaboration with Stakeholders. Worked closely with business stakeholders, product manager, dev team to define the integration scope, key features, and user workflows.
3. Design and Prototyping
- UI Design. Designed high-fidelity mockups ensuring that TipRanks’ data and insights were presented in a visually appealing and user-friendly manner, consistent with IG Trading Web, iOS and Android design system.
- Interaction Design. Developed interactive prototypes to demonstrate how users would interact with TipRanks’ features, such as viewing analyst ratings and analyst profile, reading news, and accessing stock forecasts.
- API Integration. Worked with dev team to ensure smooth API integration, allowing real-time data updates and interaction.
4. Testing and Iteration
- Usability Testing. Conducted usability tests to gather feedback on the integration, focusing on ease of use, data accessibility, and overall user experience.
5. Launch and Evaluation
- Implementation. Collaborated with developers to oversee the implementation of the final design.
- Evaluation. With product owner set metrics and interaction tracking for measuring success of implementation.
Outcome
Engagement: ~50% of clients trading are having an interaction with the TipRanks analysis widgets
Journey progression: 100+ First Trades have been made post interaction
